Read the dialogue and fill in the gaps. Use one word only.
Peter: Hello, Andy! How is the studying going?
Andy: Hi, Peter! Things are going well, thanks! You are an English club member like me, right?
Peter: Yes, but I’m not sure I like it. I’ve been doing it for 6 weeks now and I’m starting to regret it.
Andy: Oh! That’s no good! I personally like it. I’ve been in the club for a little longer than you. I think it helps me to improve my English. I like the way we learn the language. It is less formal than usual class and not quite traditional. We mostly work on our own or in small groups. We are independent learners and we get instructions from the teacher only at the beginning of the meeting.
Peter: I can’t get used to it. I’m more traditional; I need a teacher in front of me. That way I get more work done. I am worrying about the progress I am making without being checked by a teacher. At the more traditional lesson, the teacher can give you feedback on a regular basis during each class. I have a feeling my English is not getting better.
Andy: As for me, I like that we mostly focus on reading and speaking and we don’t have a lot of writing. My writing is terrible. It’s completely illegible. My school teacher can’t understand my writing and she always complains about it.
Peter: You can improve your writing if you take extra classes with your school teacher. You must be ready to work hard because it takes time. You should be patient and practice a lot. I agree the English club helps to improve reading, speaking and listening. As for writing, it’s better to work with the teacher who can give you regular feedback.
