Summer vacation is a great time when you don't have to go to school, when the sun is shining and you can go out late. After all the tests are written and all exams are passed, you can breathe deeply and enjoy the warm days.

I especially love to go to the river with my parents or friends. There you can swim in warm water, sunbathe and play beach games. Sometimes my friends and I bury each other in the sand, leaving only the head on the surface. It looks very funny. And also, if we manage to go for a few days, my dad and I get up at dawn and go fishing. Once I caught a large bream and even took a picture of it to show my friends.

In addition, during the summer holidays, we will definitely set aside time to go to the village to see my grandmother, because she is old and she needs our help. There I help her in the garden, and dad repairs what has managed to leak out in a year. Grandma is kind, she is always glad to us and prepares a lot of delicious food for our arrival. When we are her guests, we love to go to the forest for mushrooms and berries. I really like such hikes, because the forest is calm and smells of flowers and herbs. Squirrels, hedgehogs or hares can be found there.

During the last summer vacation, my parents and I went to the sea, to Yalta. This is a very beautiful city. Of course, I liked swimming in the sea and catching salty waves, but we did not spend all the time on the beach. I managed to visit the Yalta Zoo, Massandra Palace, Nikitsky Botanical Garden. There is a lot to see in this city.

Anyway, summer vacation is a great time. I have been waiting for them all year, only by the end of the summer I already miss my school friends. When we meet on the first of September, everyone is vying to talk about their summer adventures.

The Boasting Traveler

A man who had traveled in foreign
lands boasted very much, on returning to his own country, of the many wonderful
and heroic deeds he had performed in the different places he had visited.

Among other things, he said that when
he was at Rhodes he had leaped to such a distance that no man of his day could
leap anywhere near him as to that, in Rhodes
there were many persons

who saw how he did it and whom he
could call as witnesses.

One of the people who were standing
by interrupted him, saying:  "Now,
my good man, if  this be all true there
is no need of witnesses.  Suppose this to
be Rhodes, and leap for us." The man felt
ashamed and confused as he certainly couldn’t do that.

And the people around said: “He who
does a thing well does not need to boast”.
