The famous footballer Cristiano Ronaldo was born in 1985. He is widely known as one of the best players in the world. The legendary Dutch player Cruyff said he’s one of the best in the world. Ronaldo became a football superstar playing for the English team Manchester United and Spain’s Real Madrid. He plays greatly, and he regularly scores fantastic goals.
Ronaldo started playing when he was only three. His skill was clear then and when he was ten years old, two Portugal football clubs wanted him to join. He played for Sporting Lisbon team and became the only player to play for the under-16, under-17, and under-18 during one season. His fame and skills soon attracted the attention of big teams.
The famous club Manchester United decided Ronaldo to be the best player instead of David Beckham and he joined the club in 2003. He participated in the English Premier League, and won nine trophies, including the UEFA Champions League. He also was awarded the FIFA World Player of the Year award in 2008.
In 2009, Ronaldo joined Real Madrid and became the most expensive football player in history. He broke Real’s scoring record with 53 goals. Maradona called Ronaldo "the best player on the planet".
