У головних героїв казки імена говорять про характер. Наприклад, старша дочка царя Плаксія -- Нудота, середня -- Вай-Вай, молодша -- Плакота. Навіть, у самого ім'я -- Плаксій. Ці герої нудні, дурні, позбавлені почуття гумору, не бачать радощів життя. Їх життєві цінності полягають у лінощах, неробстві.
Добрий дядько Лоскотон зовсім інакший, в нього життєві цінності -- це дарувати радість та щастя оточуючим, він також має ім'я, яке говорить про його якості.
