Елизавета 1 Тюдор, 1533 -1603г. английская королева с 1558г. Восстановила англиканскую церковь, укрепила абсолютизм, боролась с католической претенденткой на престол Марией Стюарт, стараясь избежать заговоров, Елизавета казнила ее, сохранила государство от неминуемой гражданской войны, если бы выбрала католичество. Благодаря разумной политике и провидению ( морской шторм разбросал корабли испанцев и вторжение провалилось) избежала войны с Испанией и с Францией. При Елизавете Англия стала очень сильным королевством.
