1. Why do people travel?
People travel for a lot of reasons. Some people travel to visit their relatives or friends. Some other people travel to see other countries and discover new cultures. There are also people who go to other places in order to find better weather. Finally, some have to travel to find a job.

We can travel by bicycle, by motorcycle, by car, by van, by lorry, by train, by airplane, by bus (coach), by ship or on foot.

Travelling by plane is more comfortable, more convenient and of course far quicker than any other method.

Travelling by car means flexibility, independence, and freedom. You can take a lot of things with you and go anywhere you want and at any speed you want. There are a few disadvantages though. It can be tiring to drive for hours, petrol can be expensive and you can get lost.
Travelling by train is slower than by plane, but it has its advantages. With a train you have comfort and pleasure combined.
Travelling by ship is relaxing and comfortable, but even a fast ship is so much slower than a plane, a car, a train or a bus. Besides, travelling by sea is not for people who suffer from seasickness.

Many people prefer to travel by car because it's very convenient. You needn't reserve tour tickets. You needn't carry heavy suitcases. You can stop wherever you wish and go anywhere you wish.

If I need to go to a faraway destination, I prefer to travel by plane because it's the fastest means of travelling. In all other cases I would choose going by train, as it is cheaper, I can take more luggage and there are no security checks that take so much time. Besides, it is super convenient and eco-friendlier than using a car.
My last trip was to Moscow. My parents and I went there by train. My dad bought the tickets in advance. We boarded the train (it was a sleeper train) in the evening and arrived in Moscow early in the morning. I actually enjoyed sleeping on the train.
