I'd like to tell you about the Tower of London.

Tradition has it that a fortress stood here in Roman times.In 1078 William the conqueror built the White Tower for the purpose of protecting the City.The inner and outer walls followed in the 13 century and the Bloody Tower in the 14 century.Its history is that of a fortress,a palace and a prison.Edward The fifth,Guy Fawkes and others were among the prisoners.Now it is a museum.The Crown Jewels,the Royal regalia are kept here now.

In the Tower we can visit the Ceremony of Keys,in which we see the warders-in funny

flat hats,their trousers bound at the knee,and the royal monogram on their breast.
