Аль-Хорезми - один из крупнейших среднеазиатских учёных IX века, математик, астроном, географ и историк. Сформулировал правила выполнения арифметических операций. Слово "алгоритм" происходит от слова "algorithmi"- латинской формы написания его имени. Аль-Хорезми разработал подробные тригонометрические таблицы, содержащие функции синуса.
