John disliked me very much. He punished me a lot. All Reeds family was on his side and they all disliked me. When I was reading a book John told me that I hadn’t been allowed to take his books. He added that I was nobody in this family just because my father had let me there without money. He was like a murderer. Then he took the book and hit me with it. I fell on the floor and stroke my head against the door. The pain was sharp. He called for Eliza and Georgiana and very soon they came into the room to help him. Georgiana called Mrs Reed. She told Bessie and Abbot to lock me in the Red-room and I was taken upstairs.
