Потому что в нем проходят жизненно важные процессы. Его повреждение приводит к прекращению дыхания, вызывается временная остановка сердца и, след., наиболее быстрая смерть животного.

Продолговатый мозг и мост выполняют, помимо прочего, жизненно важные функции, там находятся дыхательный, сосудодвигательный центры, центры сна и бодрствования и т.д.. Соответственно при повреждении этого отдела мозга нарушается или вовсе прекращается выполнение какой-либо из этих функций, а это влечет за собой гибель организма. (потому-то эти функции и названы жизненно важными)

The Spasskava Tower utlooks Red Square and the Pokrovsky Cathedral, which is famous all over the world for its exotic beauty. Not far from the Kremlin Arbat begins It is the best-known street of the city. There is no traflie. so one can walk and enjoy watching the crowds of people strolling by.
