Простакова даже гордится тем, что читать не умеет, возмущена, что девушек учат грамоте (Софью), т.к. уверена в том, что многого можно добиться и без образования. «Из нашей же фамилии Простаковых…, на боку лежа, летят себе в чины». А уж если придется ей получить письмо, то читать не станет, а отдаст другому. Более того, они глубоко убеждены в бесполезности и ненужности знаний. "Без науки люди живут и жили", - уверенно заявляет Простакова. «Кто посмышленее того свои же братья дворяне тотчас выберут еще в какую-нибудь должность». Столь же дики и их общественные представления. Но при этом она нисколько не беспокоится о воспитании сыночка Неудивительно, что Митрофанушка вырос таким избалованным и неотесанным. Тем же и Скотинин.....
