1. The Vologda Open Air Museum of Architecture and Ethnography

A. Last week our class 1). ___________ (visit) the Vologda Open Air Museum of Architecture and Ethnography in Semenkovo. We 2). ___________ (travel) back about two hundred years in the past.

B. The museum presents a model of the traditional Russian northern village in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. All houses were taken to the museum from the north-east of the Vologda Region. At the moment, there are 12 houses, 19 household buildings, a church, and a chapel in the museum.Visitors to the museum can explore the area entering different houses and watching the exhibits in them.The old-fashioned people’s clothes, household utensils (домашняя утварь), the interior and the furniture are all from that time. The houses are like exhibition halls with their own particular exhibits.

C. First we 3). ___________ (walk) around the village. The village museum staff were polite and happy to answer our numerous questions.
