Hi, Lucy,
Sorry I didn't answer earlier, but I was so busy preparing for one of the most exciting and spectacular events in my city! You see, my classmates and I are taking part in the celebration of Nizhny Novgorod's 800th anniversary! The celebrations actually started 800 days before the date chosen for the major event — 19th August 2021. I'm sure everyone will have a lot of fun at all the events!

I remember you wanted to come to Russia one day. Why not visit Nizhny Novgorod? There'll be plenty of amazing things to do!

You can take part in lots of activities in different parts of the city. A great number of events will be held on Nizhnevolzhskaya (which means 'the Lower Volga') Embankment: different beach sports, urban fishing, historical quests and re-enactments of historical events, a barbecue for the whole city, dancing and singing, a hot-air balloon show and many others. The usual place for such events is Minin and Pozharsky Square (also called Minin Square for short), but the organisers have decided to make a change, which I think is a great idea: the city has many fantastic places, so why not use new ones for the celebration? Another great thing is that in the evening, instead of the traditional pop concert, we'll have a great fireworks show. It'll be cool!

You can also go to one of Nizhny Novgorod's parks and join in the festivities there. There'll be lots and lots of things to do for children, teenagers, adults and the elderly: a great number of sporting activities, such as jogging, cycling, roller-skating and even Nordic walking; master classes on gardening, drawing and yoga; films in open-air cinemas, etc. It's also a wonderful chance to get some fresh air and enjoy nature.

I've already mentioned my school project for the celebration. My classmates and I have just arranged a large exhibition dedicated to outstanding people from Nizhny Novgorod. I'm so proud to live here!

I really hope you can make it, and we'll meet here, in the most beautiful city on the Volga River!

Could you also write to me about your plans for the future? Have you decided which university to study at? What about your brother? Is he enjoying his studies?

Lots of love,
Anna
