the united kingdom of Great Britain and northern ireland is situated in europe, on the British Isles.It is an island country.People call the country great britain for  short because it is the name of the biggest island.there are also about 2,000 smaller islands.the englis channel separates the country from the continent.the country consists of four parts:England,Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland.
