One summer day I walked with my brother in the Centralniy Park. It’s quite far from our house, so our grandmother was worried and often phoned us to find out that everything was OK. But we quickly tired of rides and carousels and decided just to walk around the suburbs. Pasha offered to go to a shopping store called “Moscow”. Here Granny phoned and asked: “Where are you now?” – “In Moscow”, - I answered. – “What?!!!” – “Ha-ha, it’s just the name of the store, Gran” – I smiled. – “We’re going to walk about a hour or two, ok?” A little later we were hungry. I had some money, so we decided to have a snack in the café that were in that store. Then Pasha’s phone called again. - Aren’t you hungry, kids? After all, you didn’t eat before you left! - Thanks for care, Granny, - said my brother. - We are just eating in the China Town now. - Where did you say you eat?! We laughed and explained again. But it wasn’t the end.
Promoters on the street gave us a flyer about the new entertainment center, called “Lukomorye”. Despite the fatigue, we were very interested and went to see just for a moment, what it is. Then… - When are you going to go back finally, damn travelers? - grandmother was angry because it was late already. - We're on our way home! We were in Lukomorye... At this time, Granny understood us, but asked: - Another store? Where is it? I burst out laughing when Pasha said: - On the fourth floor of Jupiter ...

It was afternoon and the streets were empty as I was going back home after school last Friday.  Suddenly I heard some noise under the nearest tree. I came up to the tree and saw a small puppy! He was clean and so pretty that I couldn't help smiling. Of couгse, I took this little miracle with me. It was a present for my  sister.

The British people
are probably the greatest newspaper readers in
the world. This explains the fact that there are quite a lot of editions of different kind. Generally, all the newspapers are divided into two groups. On the one hand, there are “quality” newspapers, which publish ana lytical articles on serious topics, involving economy, politics and busi ness issues. Among the “quality” papers are The Times, The Guardian, TheFinancial Times, The Independent. Their circulation is not large, but their reputation is unshakeable. On the other hand, there are “pop
ular”
papers, or
“tabloids” which are considered entertaining rather
than
informative.
People buy such kind of papers to learn the latest
news on sports events, private life of celebrities and rumors. Their cir culation is much larger compared to “quality” papers. They are usually less in size and use large letters for the headings to report sensational news. The newspapers of this kind have the word “Daily” in the name. There are usually a lot of photographs, crosswords, sketches, and com mixes in these papers. Among them the most popular are Daily Express, The Sun, Daily Mail, Private Eye, Daily Mirror, Daily Star and others.
Besides newspapers of daily circulation, there are also the ones issued on Sundays. These may be either the supplements to the daily papers, or independent Sunday papers, which are larger in size than the daily ones and usually have several separate parts on different topics. They can be
called family papers, as there is something to
read for each member of
the family: love stories, detective stories, facts
from history, sport, art,
and much more. These newspapers contain the word “Sunday” in their title. Besides, there are a great number of all kinds of magazines.
All the newspapers and magazines in the UK are privately owned. Fleet Street in London, which was known as the home of many news papers, has now lost its prominence — the offices of many newspapers have moved away from London, as the rent is very high.
