The main advantage is the speed of information's transmission. You can communicate with another country or even a continent in several seconds. Also, nowadays it's very easy to start the communication. You can do it even with the cheapest cell phone. Modern means of communications provides not only text messaging, but also the transfer of images, audio, video and so on. And, finally, the communication is almost free today. You should not to pay a lot of money to say "Hi!" to your foreign friend or relative.
