My friend and I talked (1) one day and she said how terrible she was at cooking. I (2) offered to go to her house and teach her how to make a couple of dishes. The (3) following week I went to her place and we made a couple of really nice dishes. While we were eating I (4) suddenly smelt something burning. We went into the kitchen and there was a pan on a fire. I had (5) stupidly turned up the gas insted of turning it off!
We put the fire out quite (6) quickly, but the kitchen was a mess! I apologised (7) but Mary was really annoyed and she didn't speak to me for (8) long.
