Самый первый признак наступления весны в природе интерпретируется увеличением продолжительности солнечного дня. Дни становятся длиннее, ночи короче, а солнце всё выше над горизонтом.

Исходя из предыдущего признака наступающей весны, можно определить и следующие признаки. Это появление сосулек и таяние снега. Днём солнце уже достаточно сильно прогревает воздух и землю, особенно тёмные места, например крыши домов.

Снег тает, вода стекает вниз, а к вечеру снова начинает замерзать, так и появляются столь удивительные и всеми любимые сосульки. А на следующий день уже начинается капель – предзнаменование наступления весны.

Many people enjoy running. But one kind of race, the marathon, has captured the

marathon in Athens, Greece. Marathons are a natural extension of the fitness
movement. Many offer training programs, usually in cooperation with a local running
club. These programs help runners, who never thought they could run forty-two
kilometers, prepare for the big race. A marathon is in many ways a social event. There

is also a sense of community. Observers are as much a part of the race as the runners.
Almost every age group is present. The youngest competitor to finish a marathon was
fourteen years old. The oldest was eighty-two.
