We usually celebrate New Year, christmas, easter, may day victory's day. 

We celebrate them by inviting our close friends and family members to enjoy the drinks and food together and have good time talking to each other. 

I know 4th of July in America. It is an independency day there. In Britain, there is 5th of November - Bonfire Night, where they burn bonfires and do fireworks.
