Joanne Rowling is a British novelist, best known as the author of the Harry Potter fantasy series. Born July 31, 1965 in Yate. As a child, Rowling often wrote fantasy stories, which she would usually then read to her sister. In 2001, JK Rowling for the book "Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire" won the Hugo Award.  She is also a Knight of the Legion of Honour (2009). Rowling is actively involved in charity work. In particular, it supports the foundation of single parents and the Foundation for Research in Multiple Sclerosis - a disease that her mother had died.
