Школьные Знания.com Какой у тебя вопрос? 10 - 11 классы Английский язык 14 баллов Перевод срочно нужен!!!Success StoryI met Richard about ten years ago when I came to South America to work for Pan American Company. Richard Worked for the same company. He was a pleasant man of twenty two who easily made friends with people, and I liked him.Soon after I’d been employed, Pan American Co signed a contract for the construction of a plant. I was making most of calculations and Richard only helped me because he was less experienced. In January a few representatives of the customer together with Mr. Prosset, the President of PAC, arrived fr om the USA. The next day our manager invited them to observe the construction site. They decided to arrive there by train. The manager asked me and Richard to pick up Mr. Prosset at the hotel and bring him to the station. On the way Mr.Prosset was asking me a lot of questions and I often answered: “I’m afraid, sir, I don’t know. We haven’t made any calculations on that...”Although I was more experienced I was very much surprised when Rich began to speak: “I did all calculations last night,”- he said, -“just for my pleasure.” “Oh”- said Mr.Prosset -“That’s very interesting. Well, probably, you could tell me about...”And Richard could! He seemed to know everything. He answered all the questions Mr.Prosset asked him. When we got to the station Mr.Prosset said good-bye to Richard but not to me. On our way back to the office I told him what I thought of his impudence.“Your information wasn’t true!” – I said.“You see, John, if the President of a big company wants to know something why can’t I tell him everything he needs?“But what will happen if he checks the information?”“Do you believe he’ll remember what I was telling about? He’s going to remember that PAC has a bright young man, Richard by name, who could give him all necessary information and the other man, John, who couldn’t answer his questions.”Some time later I read in a newspaper that Richard was a Vice President of a big company. As for me, I’m still doing my ordinary everyday job for Pan American Co.
