название имеет не столько прямое значение (оно связано с содержанием рассказа) , сколько переносное и приобретает метафорическое значение. Автор, уже взрослый человек, не просто вспоминает свои детские годы, совпавшие с одним из самых драматических периодов в истории нашего государства, но и анализирует свои детские впечатления и размышления "о времени и себе". Главным в отношении писателя к окружающим и к самому себе является совесть. Именно это качество не даёт ему возможность забыть те далёкие годы.

A Few Words About Engineering Subjects.
The main task of higher technical schools is to educate creatively minded specialists who will work in various branches of engineering and will further enrich their mind by practical experience. Engineering is a science which deals with design, construction and operation of structures, machines, engines and other devices used at construction sites, in industry and everyday life.
Various subjects are taught at the engineering faculty of the university. Studies begin with theoretical subjects such as mathematics, descriptive geometry, computer science, physics, drawing, chemistry, geodesy, theoretical mechanics. The curriculum of the second-year students includes architecture, resistance of materials, building materials, electrical engineering. They work at the construction sites where they gain certain experience. They must have a knowledge of ecology.
In the upper courses the following subjects appear in the programme: gas-water-sewerage, technology of building production, mechanics of soils, welding, metal ware, ferroconcrete constructions, etc. Students attend practicals, lectures and seminars on different subjects of highly specialized fields. Profound study of theory is accompanied by practical training. Students must constantly master sciences on speciality.
New trends in training of specialists are seen in introduction of courses in psychology.
On completion of studies, a student presents a graduation thesis or takes the finals. Many of the graduates work at major construction sites and plants. A diploma means professional qualifications, results of persistent training.
