Lisa: Good afternoon, Jason, how is your day going?

Jason: I’m finishing the report. And what about you?

L: And I have to finish the project, today is the deadline. But I’m going to take a short break soon and drop in the canteen.

J: Great, I didn’t have a lunch today. Can I join you?

L: Sure.

J: Listen, are you working with Ellen on this project of yours?

L: Aha, how do you know?

J: Well, I saw her today doing nothing and thought that she is with someone responsible in the team. Why don’t you give her any tasks?

L: My gosh, don’t ask. Believe me, it is the last time I’m doing the project with her. I work twice faster when she is no around.

J: I understand you, she is something! I think she will be transferred to another department soon. The manager knows everything.

L: Good for her, the job here is too difficult for Ellen.

J: Ok, then I’ll see you in 10 minutes?

L: Sure, I’ll wait you in the canteen.

Hi friends,
I'm in England. I've come to visit David and his family for a week. In fact I'll only get to meet one member of his family, his elder sister Gina, as this week his parents have gone camping in Yorkshire. Gina and David met me at the airport and brought me to their charming old house in Canterbury, which is a small medieval town. I have just arrived, and the first evening walk through the streets of Canterbury impressed me greatly. I expected it to be cold and rainy, but it is very warm, much warmer than in Moscow. Pink blossom trees are blooming everywhere. The narrow streets are lined by tiny medieval houses, where people still live. David and I walked past the open windows and watched people having dinner, reading or just sitting by their fireplaces, just the way people had done for centuries . I felt like I had travelled back in time and found myself in the past in what people call Merry Old England. Nothing has been changed or destroyed, or modernised. The illusion was completed when I walked up to the huge cathedral. We saw people going in and followed them. We got lucky and joined a party which was being given a very interesting guided tour. I found out that I was in the famous Canterbury Cathedral, which is known as the cradle of English Christianity . Its history goes back to AD 597 when St Augustine, sent by Pope Gregory the Great, established his seat in Canterbury. In 1170 Archbishop Thomas Becket was murdered in the Cathedral. The archbishop was so popular that soon after his death he was canonised, and ever since the Cathedral has attracted thousands of pilgrims from all over the world. Geoffrey Chaucer, the 14th century writer and poet who is sometimes called the father of English Literature, immortalised these pilgrimages in his famous book The Canterbury Tales.
I returned to the house as if in a dream, and Gina sent me straight to my room. She said I needed some rest! Then I overheard her and David discussing dinner. I heard them talking about cooking something traditional to give me an idea of what English food is like. Then I saw them looking for cookery books, but I didn't understand why. Anyway, after dinner, which was delicious , I went to my room to write about my first day in England. When I saw my computer, which looked a bit out of place in the tiny room, filled with Victorian furniture, I even thought of writing a traditional diary so as not to break the illusion .... But then I thought that I wanted to share this amazing experience with my fellow bloggers, so here you are, friends.
