My school.
I've just left school and I would like to tell you a few words about it. Our school is situated not far from the centre of the town. It's neither very old nor very new. It's famous for its high-quality education and strict discipline. The school is situated in a three-storeyed building. It's rather well equipped. The gym, the workshops, the school hall, the school canteen and the cloak room are on the ground floor. The staff room, the library, the computer class, the language laboratory and the home economics room are on the first floor. There are also physics, chemistry and biology labs on the second floor. The is a sports ground behind the school and a small garden in front of it.
In senior forms we usually had 6-7 lessons every day and a lot of homework to do. We had some out-of-class activities as well. There are some sports clubs in our school for those who are keen on volleyball, basketball, shooting, etc. There is also a drama club, a choir and an English club.
When at school, I did well in most of the subjects, but I was especially good at humanities. Literature, Russian, History, Geography came easy to me, but my favourite subject was English. Of course, it isn't easy to learn a foreign language. It takes a lot of time and effort, it means hard work and a lot of memorization. We had to learn grammar rules and topics; read, translate and retell texts; we did plenty of exercises, had dictations and tests. It was often difficult, and some times ever boring. But learning a foreign language can also be a lot of fun. I liked the games we played, English and American poems we learned, the films we saw and the songs we sangs. I wanted to understand other peoples, their culture and way of life and I was happy when I could express myself in another language.
Most of the teachers at our school were experienced and well qualified. I know that teaching is a very specific and difficult job, it takes a lot of patience and love. A teacher is a person who is learning as well teaching all his life and a teacher's work is never done. My favourite was our English teacher. She loved her job and understood her pupils. She had perfect knowledge of her subject and knew how to make difficult things easy and understandable. She was able to get her pupils interested in the subject she taught and made us realize that knowledge of English is essential for every educated person. Our English teacher didn't only teach her subject, she developed her pupils intellect, helped to form our values, views and characters, our attitudes to life and other people.
On the whole, I liked my school and my class. I always felt at home here. Everybody was friendly and easy to get along with. I will never forget my school years and I hope I will be friends with my classmates in the future too.
