JAPANESE CRESTED IBIS The Japanese, or crested, ibis lives in parts of Russia, Japan, Korea and China. It is a big white bird with long pink feathers. It lives near water or on high areas of land. It eats fish, frogs and insects. The Japanese crested ibis is nearly extinct. This is because farming chemicals destroyed most of its habitat. RUSSIAN STURGEON The Russian sturgeon lives in Russia, Azerbaijan, Georgia, Iran and a few other countries. It is a big fish. It can grow as long as two metres and it weighs more than a hundred kilos. The Russian sturgeon lives in salt water. It is an endangered species because people catch it for its meat and eggs. People make caviar from its eggs. They sell it to shops all around the world.
