Дабы ослабить Македонию в предстоящей войне, Рим послал в Грецию послов с обещанием освободить греков от власти Македонии и дать полную независимость. Однако, после разгрома Македонии, Римляне не до конца выполнили свои обещания. Рим освободил греков от власти Македонии, но вместе с тем сделал греков зависимыми от Рима. Чуть позже Греция станет одной из провинций Римской республики.
