Сколько знаков препинания в современном русском письме? На этот вопрос очень немногие ответят сразу, но, не задумываясь, назовут основные, чаще употребляемые. В их число войдет и запятая. Без этого знака не обходится ни один текст.
По своей функции запятые делятся на две группы: разделительные и выделительные. И те, и другие часто представлены в тексте любого автора.. Запятые в предложениях выделяют вводные слова, сравнительный оборот. Функцию разделительную запятые выполняют при отделении одной грамматической основы от другой, при разделении ряда однородных членов предложения.
Таким образом, запятые дают возможность правильно изложить мысль, акцентировать внимание на том или ином аспекте в предложении.

"I've got lots of friends and we’re all into the same kind of things. We like watching TV, especially comedies and my all-time favourite is Father Ted. We love music too, and I'm really into indie bands like The Bravery and the Arctic Monkeys. I try to go to as many gigs as I can. I'm not really into fashion. I can't stand shopping and I couldn't care less about designer labels."
