On May 27 in St. Petersburg celebrated the City Day. This date was chosen because on this day in 1703 Peter I fiercely-contested territory at the mouth of the Neva river in Sweden, laid the first stone in the Foundation of the Peter and Paul fortress. This is the first building of the future great city is still the main symbol of the Northern capital.
