and deck hands are on the lower deck. The cabins are all comfortable though not very large. The ship has such modern conveniences as shower-rooms, a laundry and a sauna. The galley and the ward-room are on the main deck. The steering gear room is on the lower deck. The engines are located in the engine-room. There are two main engines with 1740 hp. (horse power) total capacity, three auxiliary engines and a boiler in the engine room.
On the boat deck there is an emergency engine which is automatically switched on in case auxiliary engines stop. The ship is also equipped with a water supply system and a semi-auto-matic signalling system. Ships of this type have three holds intended for carrying bulk and general cargoes and equipped with a hydraulic hatchcover cleating system «McGregor» which makes it possible to open and close the hatches in a very short time.
A bow thruster allows the ship to turn in her own length. The starboard anchor can be dropped by remote control from the bridge and а chain indicator registers the length of the paid chain. From the navigation point of view the ship has good manoeuvrability which allows her to make long voyages.
