I (noticed) that we (were) late and later on I (found) out that it (took) us two hours to start on the voyage. So when we (reached) the open sea, huge waves (were rising). The ship (was being thrown) about like a toy on the huge waves. I (had) to stay on deck to help the sailors. I was afraid I (could) (be washed) overboard. It was the worst storm I have/had ever seen.
