The United Kingdom is a country located in northwest Europe. It is officially called the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland. It is made up of England, Wales, Scotland, and Northern Ireland. London is the capital Of the United Kingdom. The name United Kingdom dated back to 1707, when the parliaments of England and Scotland were united to form single country.  The country is rn by a Queen or King, a Prime Minister, and two Houses of Parliament, the House of Commons and the House of Lords. The United Kingdom has been a member of the European Union since 1973.
