Peter the Great (1672-1725) was an emperor of Russia. He transformed Russia from an isolated and not developed country into one of the mightiest empires of the world. He changed Russia's society, by making it modern like the European countries of the time. He was interested in science of war and european lifestyle. Russian Navy was established by him too. There are many opinions on his reforms and his personality, both positive and negative. But without a doubt, one of the greatest tsars of Russia.
